Brilliant commander of the 1960s juggernaut known as the Green Bay Packers, Vince Lombardi had a lot of superior weapons at his disposal. Much of the Packers dominance can be attributed to the invincible backfield triumvirate of quarterback Bart Starr, halfback Paul Hornung and fullback Jim Taylor, who have all been enshrined in the Hall of Fame. The ground gaining tandem of this dream backfield are featured on the front cover of this 8/22/66 Sports Illustrated Vol. 25, #8 issue. Hornung and Taylor are pictured with big smiles during 1966 training camp, in preparation for a season that would bring them their fourth NFL championship together and end with a Green Bay victory in the first ever Super Bowl. More smiles are in order for the winner of this prime publication, thanks to a CGC supplied grade of (8.5), which is good for a Census rank of "1/1" with none higher.
