Description

Polar opposites come together with this framed cut signature lot of (2). Between them, Connie Mack and Casey Stengel managed nearly 12,000 Major League ballgames, with markedly different approaches in style. Mack was ever one for proper decorum and managed games while wearing a suit. Stengel got more laughs than most professional comedians and at the end of his career he stood as a lightning rod for fan displeasure, drawing attention away from his hapless New York Mets players of the early-1960s. Clear some wall space for these immortals, who are the subjects of the offered display pieces.

Mack is represented with a ("7") strength cut signature. Measuring 3 x 1/2", this treasured autograph is joined with a Perez-Steele postcard in a 12x15 frame. Stengel's ("7-8") strength signature appears on a 4-1/4 x 1" cut, framed to overall dimensions of 9-1/2 x 11-1/2", along with a Smithsonian Institution Baseball Immortals photo. Auction LOA from JSA.
